Interoperability, how Hopia fits into the hospital IT ecosystem.

A scheduling solution does not live alone. It fits into a dense hospital IT ecosystem. An overview of Hopia's connectors and interoperability principles.

The hospital IT landscape, a dense ecosystem

No domain system runs in isolation in a modern hospital. Scheduling is fed by, and feeds, many other systems:

  • Time & attendance (working time and absence management).
  • HRIS (employee master data, contracts, skills).
  • OR software (surgical programs).
  • RIS (Radiology Information System, imaging schedule).
  • EHR (electronic health record), in time, to integrate forecast activity.
  • Replacement-management tools and agency-staffing platforms.

A scheduling tool that does not plug into this ecosystem creates more problems than it solves: double entry, inconsistencies, shifted administrative burden.

The Hopia promise: lightening the load on IT teams

From Hopia's perspective, interoperability is not a technical layer bolted on after the fact. It is an end-to-end commitment to the IT teams of healthcare facilities.

  • End-to-end IT support: our teams take charge of scoping, development, go-live, and maintenance of the data flows. The facility's IT team does not have to carry the integration load alone, that is a concrete, measurable difference from the very first weeks of the project.
  • More than 50 connectors in production or in deployment with the main vendors of time & attendance, OR programs, and RIS.
  • Real field- and product-driven thinking on the flows: every connector is designed to deliver the best possible user experience, based on the data actually available on the facility's side. We adapt the flows to the reality of the IT environment, not the other way around.

This approach is what lets us scale while keeping maintainability over time.

What this changes for CIOs

  • No technical debt: connectors are industrialized, maintained, documented.
  • No hard dependency on a specific version of a third-party system.
  • A single source of truth: Hopia consumes the HRIS employee reference, it does not duplicate it.
  • Traceable data flows, compatible with security and GDPR requirements.

Bi-directional flows where it makes sense

Interoperability is not limited to consuming data. In several cases, Hopia can push the validated schedule back to time & attendance, sync changes, or feed activity dashboards.

Bi-directional flows are implemented when:

  • Partner vendors allow them.
  • The use case justifies it (double entry, single source of truth).
  • Security and data governance allow it.

One building block among others, but a strategic one

Hopia does not aim to replace time & attendance, HRIS, or EHR. We are the optimized scheduling layer that complements the existing ecosystem, without conflicting with the systems already in place.

That is the condition for being deployed quickly, adopted over time, and building on existing IT investments rather than calling them into question.
